Adventure Photo Tour Ethiopia:
Djibouti / Afar / Danakil / Erta Ale / Dallol
An adventurous photo tour in East Africa with Photo motifs like from another world
The province of Afar and especially the Danakil Depression from Djibouti to northern Ethiopia are not only a unique region on an African scale, there is no similar natural area anywhere in the world. Deep down between the Ethiopian highlands, the eastern part of Africa splits off from the western main part and there is even a three-way fork in the Danakil Depression. Here three large continental plates separate from each other: northeast the Arabian Peninsula, south East Africa and west the rest of Africa. This separation has been going on for a few millions of years and has left behind unique natural phenomena worldwide - permanently active volcanoes, huge salt lakes, ocean floor below sea level - but without water cover - grandiose hot salt water springs that are unique in the world. In this inhospitable world - deep down in the East African Rift - the nomadic Afar people settled in ancient times.
In addition, on this photo tour on the drive from Addis Ababa to Djibouti, you will visit the Awash NP and its waterfalls, as well as the ancient cities of Dire Dawa and Harar.
